April 29, 1944 Mission to Terni Viaduct

Squadron War Diary

486th Target was Terni Viaduct. Briefing was at 0645 - Take-off at 0755. The 486th pattern straddled the tracks to the viaduct. The second element bombed a bridge across the canal about 100 yrds to the left of the target.

487th Terni Viaduct, at 9:21 hours was the scene of attack for six bomb loaded B-25's of the 487th squadron. The bomb pattern started at a point below the west end of the viaduct striking the railway tracks and extended along the tracks onto the viaduct scoring several direct hits on the objective. All planes returned safely to the base – no enemy opposition was encountered.

489th This morning we flew a very successful mission over the Terni Viaduct.
